wire screening, edges folded, to fit in pan dishtowel
1. Tear up the tissues in small pieces, about the size of postage stamps. Drop them into the bowl and add a cup of hot water.
2. Beat the mixture until it's smooth, with no big pieces.
3. Stir the liquid starch into the mixture of water and tissues.
This is your "slurry." Then pour the mixture into the pan.
4. Dip the screen into the pan, sliding it under the slurry. Move
the screen around to get a thin, even layer of slurry on top. Use your
fingers to distribute the mixture.
5. Lift the screen straight up and out of the pan and allow water
to drain off.
6. Lay the screen between the sheets of newspaper.
7. Use a rolling pin over the newspaper to blot your paper.
8. Turn the screen over and gently lift your paper off the newspaper.
9. Let your homemade paper dry on the dishtowel for a day or so.
