Make Your Own Leaf Collection

You can create your own leaf collection! See how many different leaves you can collect and identify.

Instructions:

Download and print the directions, worksheet, and leaf examples from the materials section.

You can collect leaves from anywhere near your home, or anywhere you visit. The summer months provide the best leaf samples. You can collect leaves from trees or collect fallen leaves on the ground.

You can collect leaves from other plants, too! Like shrubs, hedges, or gardens (make sure you ask for permission!). Collect as many different kinds of leaves as you can! Use the leaf collection examples from the materials section. Can you collect every kind of leaf?

Simply print the leaf collection template and then use household glue or clear tape to attach a single leaf in the space provided.

Fill in any details about the characteristics of the tree or plant the leaf came from. Can you identify the plant? Write that down.

Watch your collection grow as you collect more leaves! How many different kinds of leaves did you collect? Which leaf is your favorite leaf? Which leaf is most unusual?

You may want to write a report on your leaf collection!
