Follow along as we go through the ins and outs of a product that has been a library and home staple for over 100 years!

What is an encyclopedia?

The World Book Encyclopedia is the only general A-Z print research source still published today. Along with over 17,000 articles, the encyclopedia also contains useful advice about studying and report writing for elementary through intermediate grade students. Thousands of index entries make it easy to find information wherever it is in the set. Abundant colorful photos, diagrams, charts, tables, and maps supplement the easy-to-read text.

How do you use it?

Encyclopedias can be used for school, library, and at-home research. First, decide on an age-appropriate encyclopedia for you or your student. World Book offers both high level and lower level encyclopedias (such as the Discovery Encyclopedia and Discovery Science Encyclopedia) with more images and bigger text for younger readers. Then, finding a topic is simple with the easy-to-use A-Z index that points directly to any article you need! Our editors have gone through hundreds of educational resources and written the articles in the encyclopedia to be short and concise, so you get the best information and fast! Use the diagrams, charts, and pictures to further understand a topic.

Why do you need it?

There is a real sense of security in being able to direct children to resources like encyclopedias and other reference materials! Starting with a trusted source in the research phase of a project saves students time and gives them a good foundation and point of comparison when they move on to online resources.

In 22 hard-cover volumes full of accurate and trustworthy facts, The World Book Encyclopedia set provides the most up-to-date information in formats tailored for school-aged learners. Sharpen critical thinking, hone research skills, dive deeply into an understanding of a topic, and round-out classroom curricula with expertly written, unbiased articles. This is why World Book is one of the most trusted sources and why encyclopedias continue to play such a crucial role in schools, libraries, and at home today.
